The Full Story

Our Journey Begins

From Experience to Advocacy. From Advocacy to Action.

DMF Consulting Group was born from decades of witnessing the same painful patterns — families shut out of systems that were supposed to support them, young children (especially Black and Brown boys and girls) suspended or expelled before they even reached kindergarten, and caregivers silenced in spaces meant for collaboration.

After more than 30 years of working in classrooms, shelters, family child care, and leadership roles across licensed and state-funded programs, founder DeCondia M. Ferguson saw the need for something more: A consulting practice rooted in healing, justice, and action.

She launched DMF Consulting Group to disrupt the status quo — to stand in the gap for families navigating trauma, transitions, and educational barriers. It started with one goal: to make sure no family felt powerless when advocating for their child. Today, DMF is a growing hub for advocacy, training, and strategy that supports not only families, but the programs and educators who serve them.

We didn’t just build a consulting firm. We built a movement — one where equity leads, families are heard, and mission becomes momentum.

Our Mission

At DMF Consulting Group, our mission is to empower families, educators, and community programs navigating life transitions and systemic challenges through trauma-informed, equity-centered, and developmentally responsive consulting.

With over 30 years of experience, we specialize in supporting early childhood and TK–3 educational systems with a strong emphasis on family advocacy, program inclusion, and mental health-informed practices. Our work focuses on building safe, healing-centered environments where children and families -especially those affected by trauma, divorce, homelessness, or exclusionary discipline — are not only supported, but truly seen.

Our Symbol

The Pheonix & The Hummingbird

“DMF Consulting logo – family support, trauma-informed care, and education services”

At DMF Consulting Group, our logo unites two powerful symbols to reflect the heart of our mission:

The Phoenix — Resilience & Transformation

Just as the phoenix rises from the ashes, we support families and educators navigating trauma, adversity, and change — guiding them to rebuild stronger than before.

🌿 The Hummingbird — Precision & Care

Small yet mighty, the hummingbird symbolizes our thoughtful, trauma-informed approach to early childhood development and family support. Every detail matters. Every child counts.

Together, these symbols represent our promise to:

Lead with Heart. Heal with Strategy.

We help people rise, grow, and thrive in every season of transition — whether in the classroom, at home, or within their community.
