Founder of DMF Consulting Group
Where Mission Meets Momentum
With over 30 years of experience in early childhood education, child development, and trauma-informed care, DeCondia M. Ferguson is a mission-driven leader who champions equity, dignity, and justice for children and families — especially those too often marginalized by systems not built for their success. As the founder of DMF Consulting Group — short for Driven by Mission & Focus — she brings bold, heart-centered advocacy to the forefront of early education and family services.
DeCondia has served as a Child Development Services Manager, educator, and trusted advisor to programs supporting children impacted by trauma, homelessness, divorce, and systemic inequities. Her work calls out injustice and builds intentional solutions that center the voices and needs of children and caregivers.
She is a fierce advocate for young boys and girls of color, who are disproportionately subject to exclusionary discipline practices — including suspension and expulsion — even in preschool. She works to disrupt the cycle that labels Black and Brown children as “unsafe” or “challenging” before they’ve had a chance to be seen, understood, and supported. Through healing-centered approaches, DeCondia partners with parents, providers, and administrators to foster connection, developmental alignment, and true inclusion.
Her consulting focuses on:
-
Advocating for family rights in child care and early education systems
-
Addressing suspension and expulsion in preschool environments, especially among children of color
-
Partnering with programs to eliminate exclusionary practices and implement trauma-informed responses
-
Supporting parents as they navigate preschool discipline, placement, and care transitions
-
Empowering educators to reframe challenging behaviors through an equity and developmental lens
-
Strengthening agency-family partnerships and building equitable, culturally responsive practices
DeCondia’s work empowers:
-
Parents navigating family transitions
-
Educators and administrators seeking trauma-informed strategies
-
Agencies and nonprofits building equity-focused programs
Whether she’s facilitating trainings, mentoring directors, or guiding parents through moments of crisis, DeCondia leads with a blend of strategy, soul, and deep commitment to systemic change.
Every child and every family deserves the opportunity to heal, grow, and thrive — no matter their story.
